Why do you call it The January Project?

: What can I expect in a
session with James?
: In a
consultation, I go into a light trance similar to a daydream, but on a
whole different level. It's like putting physical/conscious reality into the
background and bringing the under-the-surface reality into view. As you speak
to me, images begin to move on a giant screen in my mind's eye. As you ask your
important questions, your voice moves the images forward. It's like a giant
invisible holographic record of your current living script and the scripts of
those around you. In a reading, looking at the future is much like
engaging the fast-forward button on your VCR; only I'm playing the tape of your
invisible script. Some of the images are literal; some are symbolic. Where
appropriate, I tell you about these symbols and what they mean. Sometimes I
quickly create hypothetical alternate futures and fast-forward or re-wind those
tapes to see what's possible − especially given the scripts of those around
you. In doing so I can mediate between you and the future you want to
experience − perhaps instead of the one that's coming at you right now, by
default.
Think of that giant screen as a multi-layered movie, one in
which the images of those around you are interwoven into your own images.
So in that sense, the entire movie is holographic in nature. When asking a
question about yourself or another person, the images of all individuals
involved will be affected, and so the total effect can be seen and then relayed
to you. This includes asking "what if" questions to explore possible
outcomes based upon hypothetical actions ("What will happen if I.....").

:
How do you get your information?
: In my work I like to go beyond what most people would expect. I like to show my clients the direction in which they are currently
headed, and also I like to show them how to redesign their life path entirely to
create the future they want. I don't use any "divination" system; nor do I believe the future is fixed or carved in
stone. Instead, I believe everyone has a living script − an invisible set of
scenarios that compel the future, or that can be changed at the snap of the
fingers once you simply become conscious of them. In a private consultation, I
assess your personal situation and the issues involved, and then provide you
with an insight to your personal script as well as that of others who may be
involved.

: How
would you compare what you do to a tarot card reading?
:
The tarot is a set of symbols that are then synthesized in a consultation and,
hopefully, combined with the reader's intuition to apply the archetypes and
symbols appropriately to the matter at hand. Over many thousands of years, those
symbols have been imprinted with the mass consciousness in a way that makes them
meaningful and, to some, sacred. I believe very much in symbolism and therefore
I appreciate the meaning of the tarot.
However, I do not use tarot cards or any divination tools.
If my work were compared to a tarot card
reading, imagine that instead of 52 cards, there are millions of ever-evolving
cards that are imaginary instead of physical, and each of those cards is really
a video screen....perhaps with premium cable. The imagery I work with in a
consultation is so fluid that if it were to somehow be embodied within a deck of tarot cards,
each session for each person would have its own unique deck.

: Do I
have a soul mate? When am I going to meet him/her?
: The simple answer is YES. I do not subscribe to the idea that there is
just one very special person roaming the earth, hopelessly trying to find you
and make all of your problems go away while you both fall into a state of
eternal bliss. The very good news is that there are currently nearly 6 billion
people on the planet. The possibilities in that size of a crowd of people are
unlimited when you consider the average life span. And yes, you do have many
soul mates, not just one. Consider, however, that you may have killed them
in a past lifetime or vice versa. Perhaps they were your resentful butler. Or
maybe you were the controlling evil stepmother and they were the compassionate
beautiful child of vision held back by you. It could get interesting this time
around. That burning passion you feel for someone may be concealing something
unexpected.

: So then what is a "soul mate"?
: A "soul mate" is usually someone with whom you have unresolved
issues that need to be worked through and released. Often "soul mates" end up
in very beautiful long term relationships. Sometimes they are the people you
dislike the most, the people that press your buttons. Sometimes a "soul mate"
is someone with whom you experienced great joy previously and you are continuing
the deepening process this time around. Sometimes the relationship needs
lifetimes to unfold completely. The connection you feel is a soul-level
memory. The key is to see your relationship to them as a learning experience
and find the release point(s) so both of you can evolve and move on, lest you
repeat the experience. I don't generally use the term "soul mate" because of how
it is commonly perceived, therefore.

: You mean to say that if I
resolve all of my issues with my spouse we will no longer feel a connection?
: Sometimes this is possible, though not probable. The real purpose is to
move to an even deeper level of intimacy. You might think of it as a sort of
spiritual gift for doing the work. On the outside chance you don't end up
staying together physically, you are still linked at a soul level. In that case
you may very well meet someone else with whom you share that bliss − perhaps
even another "soul mate". Relationships never really end, they just evolve and
change. They are here to teach you and to help you to evolve, if you are open
to that. All too many people try to possess the one they love.

: Do you believe in past lives?
Why should I care about them?
: I believe in evolution, and therefore I subscribe to the idea of past
lives. Therefore reincarnation makes sense to me. It's helpful to your current experience to
know about past life patterns that helped you evolve to this point. It is not
wise to obsess over who or what you used to be -- in any lifetime.

: What then is one possible constructive perspective on past lives?
: Remember that the patterns you see are good indicators of what you
need to be looking at now. Consider that every person you meet has likely
evolved across many lifetimes. In other words, no longer are they just the
homeless person begging you for money, or the musician who inspires you, or your
pre-adolescent child; they are the culmination of many lifetimes embodied before
you now. Think of the opportunity and the great honor that brings to any
given moment. Then remember that you are a mirror of that same evolution, if you
choose to be. It is a two-way street. Likely, you were once a
homeless person, or an inspired musician or artist, or even a child.
Imagine that.
Seventy-five percent of who you are now relates to who you were in previous
lifetimes -- much more than what happened in your childhood. By the same
token, you wouldn't want to live in the past -- particularly not a past
lifetime. After all, it is indeed a past lifetime, and you came this far.
Why go back? What did you learn from it that can help you now?

: What does "designing your life" have
to do with a consultation?
: Designing your life is precisely what a
consultation is all
about. Remember, the future is not carved in stone. As you change, so does your
future. Designing your life is a philosophical idea that you have the power to
make anything happen. It speaks to the promise and the possibility that you can
experience great joy and purpose. It means that you make a spiritual
commitment, a contract, with yourself. This is not like a schedule you put in a
day-timer and feverishly work towards. It is more about perspective first, and
then purposeful action that comes out of that perspective. The key is the
perspective It's primarily about being, followed by doing. For every "be"
there is a corresponding "do". Ever hear of the Doobie Brothers?

: I notice that in my family, for generations, the women almost always
end up in difficult relationships. I don't want that to happen to me. What can
I do?
: That is a very large question. The simplest answer is that what you are
referring to is a family legacy, which is almost like a memory at the DNA
level...that gets passed down through the generations. At it's keyed into the
larger community of humankind. The solution to this problem is to resolve it
within yourself so it doesn't continue. In doing so, you actually help other
people in your family release the same issues. This is much more effective than
trying to rescue them. In a much larger sense, we as a community of humankind
are right now being presented with the opportunity to re-engineer the DNA of the
human race, thereby making a quantum leap forward in understanding and
consciousness forever. Perhaps instead of focusing on past lives, it would be
more helpful to understand what your current ancestors experienced.

: If I don't have a past life connection to my current biological family,
why should I be concerned with my ancestors in this lifetime? Shouldn't I be
more focused on where I came on a deeper soul level over the long haul by
focusing on my past lives?
: Again this is a very large question. The simplest answer is that the
evolution of our entire soul level experience is so encompassing that it spans
many lifetimes. You can't possibly resolve everything in one lifetime, anymore
than you could finish your entire college degree in one term. So each lifetime
is like a new set of classes and learning experiences. It's like you are using
each lifetime to specialize in a particular set of experiences, but not
everything at once. Therefore, since you chose this lifetime to work through a
specific set of issues and experiences, your current biological family is of
utmost importance now. Their very DNA, and your own, has an important
message for you. Tune into it, and make peace with it.

: How do I tune into the "message" in my DNA?
: Let me help you design that process. The key is in communication, first
with your body. Your body is a living testimony of your biographical
experience. Every experience you have ever had is recorded in your body.
Thanks to cellular memory, your body "remembers" even when your conscious mind
forgets. There are layers of timeless wisdom imprinted in every cell of your
body, always there, ready for you to access: an intimate personal body of
universal knowledge. Your body can teach you about yourself and the world
around you. There is a unique and individual road map within you, waiting to
guide you to wherever it is you want to go − and to show you new places you may
never have imagined.

: So designing the life I've always wanted includes talking to my body?
: It absolutely does, and for all the reasons described. Your body is a
microcosm of the entire biosphere. The smallest unit of matter has imprinted
within it the same pattern as the entire biosphere. Indeed the world is not
only at your fingertips, it is in your fingertips. Your body
(like every cell in your body), is a perfect living system existing within a
perfect living system existing within a perfect living system, ad infinitum.
it's like a "community of cells" − self-organizing, self-maintaining, and
self-transcending. You can become an inspiration to others by changing
yourself. By changing yourself, you can send a powerful wave of energy out into
the larger community that causes a compelling and definite shift. There is a
definite and scientifically proven physical connection between you, every
person, and every thing else. You don't even have to say one word or do
anything else besides making that shift within yourself.

: How is your accuracy rate? Do your "predictions" usually come true?
: That depends upon you and those around you. In reality, a
consultation is for
a given moment in time only. Many people, having garnered the insight from the
session, immediately or soon afterwards set out on a new course, and everything
changes − especially now that they see how the future really depends upon them.
The idea of accuracy feeds into the age old idea of the candle-burning gypsy
with a sandwich board on the sidewalk and a whole lot of pictures of saints on
the wall. Some of those people are really interesting, and many are gifted.
But I have discovered that, for me, the mysterious nature of it all is no longer
appropriate. My job isn't to mesmerize you with trance-like mystery; instead,
it is to turn the light on so that you may see yourself more clearly. In doing
so, you may even decide to make changes, i.e. take an active part in creating
the future you always wanted. For some people this can be distressing and
frustrating. For others, it's exciting because it means they have a certain
level of control over the future. This is what I refer to when I talk about
your "script". Your life is like a huge design lab with a multitude of tools.
When you really get in touch with that concept, every day becomes exciting! As
the Microsoft motto says, "Where do you want to go today?"

: What
can I do to get a better consultation?
:
It helps tremendously when you come to the session with specific
questions. Think of a consultation like looking into a magical pond that
reflects back to you what you put into it: if you ask a specific question, the
answer is specific; if you ask a general question, the answer comes back general;
if you ask a question about something non-existent or made up, your answer will
be equally non-existent or unreal! It's all about illusion and reflection,
and the law of relativity: you get back exactly what you put out.
In almost any session, the information comes through at
lightening speed. If you want to know about a particular person, for
example, just say the person's name, ask the specific question, and let the
message come through.

: Can you please tell me about my "script" and how that applies to your
work?
: My
consultations are about looking closely at your living script: an invisible
set of if/then scenarios that continually changes as you change your thoughts
and perspectives. Almost everyone has a primary "default" script that brings
the future back to them and into the now, creating their everyday experiences,
mostly unconsciously. The key to creating the future you've always wanted is to
become conscious of your living script and then to change it.

: Do you
do candle burning, spell casting, or magic?
:
No, I do not believe in this, nor is it a part of my work or even my life.
No one can change the course of events in your life – for good or bad –
through spells or magic (often spelled "magick") or any of that type of gimmick
like burning of candles. Nor can anyone use such activity to turn your
life into misery or make someone love you against their will or "reunite"
lovers. (Besides, don't you want to be loved openly and freely because it is
meant to be, and because the timing is right?) I do believe, however, in the
power of the mind to affect change, insofar as matter follows thought.
"Prayer" or positive thought (i.e. sending someone warm feelings of love and
kindness), definitely make a difference. Ultimately, it is your mind that
affects change – mostly through changing your perspective, not bending the
rules or going into denial or stuffing feelings that need to be addressed.
It is possible, using alchemy and symbolism, to empower those positive thoughts
and prayer-like meditations to affect real change in your life and therefore
those you love (since we are all connected).

: Why do you call it The January Project?
: The name "January Project"
is intended to symbolize
new beginnings, such as the first month of the year. Also, I wanted it to
reflect a modern world view, since that is the world in which we live, here and
now, 2007.
